My son loves spending Diwali with his grandparents. Since last year, we have all been going back to my ancestral village in Western Gujrat for Diwali. The area has been thriving ever since the Sardar Sarovar Dam solved its drought problem. I remember as a child, my father would have a hard time making ends meet during the low-rainfall years. We were never sure if we would happily celebrate that year's Diwali or not. But those days are no more. My father has never been more confident of his harvests and my son has never been happier.
